Good luck Rod!

Thank you, Tom!:)

Hello all! It's good to be in the real trading world with you.:)

I am a newbie to trading. I've recently opened Roth IRAs for my Wife & I, and an ESA for my Daughter through Scottrade. I have a couple of predated trades I would like to share with you.

3 Mar: EFU @ 149.89

5 Mar: EFA @ 33.04

As mentioned, I am new at this. I took the approach to hedge EFU against EFA, and EFA against EFU. I realize my gains will be small. But at the same time my losses will be minimal. Once the market stabilizes my plans are to dump, or at the very least minimize my exposure in EFU.

I've tailored Tom's TSP Tracker to track these buys. They are as follows, COB, 6 Mar:

EFA: -1.39%

EFU: -0.29%

Any advice/tips are appreciated!

Welcome, Rod! It's great to see another familiar face join our little band. :) I'm a newbie, too, but am learning fast because of the great interactions here. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am.

I plan to go long with EFA.

I returned from the dentist around 0930, so I got my trades in right as it was kicking in.

I feeling fine now. Just a little light-headed. I'm back in my office relaxing on my recliner and watching CBNC.

BTW, about 20 minutes ago Mark Haines on CBNC called the bottom. Of course, that does not make it a bottom. But it's nice to hear.

I read somewhere that when you first begin to trade, you should concentrate on only a couple of stocks, or ETFs, etc. That's why I chose EFU and EFA. I will add more positions soon enough.

God Bless:)

I like having the long with an inverse ETF strategy myself. Unless both are flat, it means you can get twice the confirmation of a direction. :)

Nice... With the dollar down, the EFA should be roaring today.

Yeah. At least as of now, I'm up about 6 1/2% today.

I hope that holds.

I'll be curious what C does prior & after Thursday's Mark to Market meeting. It could explode to the upside, or dive like a anvil over the cliff.

It seems some folks are pricing this meeting in, I'm not...:suspicious:

Just wanted to share that my ( C ) position is now up 79.23% since I bought it on 10 Mar!

( C ) is ripe for a long-term position.

It should at least make its way back up to $50 in a matter of time, IMO.

As long as you don't bet your entire portfolio on it, you will have the patience to wait and watch it grow.

I did add more ( C ) at 3.09.

BTW, the VIX is teetering.

Rod

Yeah, since the gov. will not allow it to fail, it's a no-brain buy IMHO.

It will continue to take its beatings. But it's a long-term hold for me just as Citi is a long-term hold.

Heck, a 1,000(s) shares of AIG at today's price can go a long way if that sucker at least hits 15.00 within a few years.

I myslef don't have the paientice to hold it for the long term. I'd buy it again, but only if they replace the management. Technically speaking, we all own a little AIG, the only difference is you have something to show for it. :)

The board has gotten quiet. I am in a few positions but every time I post one here, it seems to be a losing trade. I'm backing off until I get back in a groove.

CBAI: bought @ 0.0091, 0.0092 (spec play... a loser currently)

ACAD: bought @ 1.76

ERY: bought @ 12.55 (Plan to dump around July then buy ERX)

FAZ: bought @ 15.75 (Plan to dump around July then buy FAS)

Stuff I've sold:

AIG @ 38.75 on 19 Apr

PFE @ 16.73 on 19 Apr

FAZ @ 11.96 on 19 Apr

URE @ 44.66 (after reverse split) on 19 Apr

UUP @ 23.75 on 19 Apr

ERY @ 10.30/31 on 18 May (I should have held... but bought back in as noted above).

God Bless:)
