Welcome, and good luck 350Z!
Thanks Tom.
Since I'm out of IFT's, I figured I would spend the rest of the month here.:D
I'm currently flat but looking to pick up FAZ.

Well, well, there goes the neighborhood. LOL Welcome and glad you came over.
Thanks everyone.
Is it just me or does it feel like the market is going to open green, with maybe a push higher, than sell-off the rest of the day?
Bonds rallying.

Looking at the carts this can not last much longer. We have had a number of these strong 3 to 6 day rallies and then sell off.
I'm still in the camp of sell the rallies.

Hey JTH.
FAZ is currently at 38.5. Intervention is still in the air, so I'm just going to sitting on my hands. FAZ at 35 or lower would be tempting.

Yup, the VIX so far today, is saying this is about to end.

These are prices I wouldn't have imagined just 3 days ago when everyone was jumping in @ 65.00
I've already bought in twice and I'm a bit heavy on FAZ right now. I have nothing left to throw at it, as my cash is stuck in unsettled funds.
Good luck to anyone who is think about dipping in.

I remember looking last Friday and FAZ was over $111. I didn't look to see what the high for the day was...but it was more than $111.
We have had more than 50% retracement.

SPX has strong support 745 and at 740(20dma), we might just be seeing consolidation.
getting ready to buy FAZ

I'll add more if it gets to 35. I don't think it will come to that.
Here's how the German DAX finish. It's somewhat bearish but not as dramatic as would have liked. Most of Europe finish about the same way. The SPX on the other hand, finished above the 20dma as 740 in the futures held. Suggesting it could continue on Monday. The VIX is also on the side of the bears, suggesting the market made a top today. A lot of mix signals today.

Put on a limit order to buy more at 35. We are near the top. The Nikkei hit 7754(top of bollinger band) last night and gave back some gains.
Also shorted EUR/USD near 1.304.
Anybody here trade currencies? If not, I won't mention it anymore.

I'm being conservative and witing for 33 or so. there should be good support there as the lows go back to Dec/Jan. There was a good consolidation period back then where it went sideways...should be support.
Also thinking of buying some DXO soon...gonna see how it behaves near 220

I don't trade currencies but I pay attention to them because of market linkage with dollar/gold, dollar/foreign ETFs, yen/foreign ETFs, etc, etc. Re your FAZ, I'm wishing you all the best because of my FAZ!

Here, Here I second that nomination. I'm not currently trading currencies, but I like to think they are an important piece of the Jigsaw. I've tracked UDN/UUP in the past and plan on adding them to my daily watch list.

Correction: I shorted EUR/USD at 1.3024, not 1.3040. I must have been half asleep this morning.
FAZ LOD was $34.80. Bought more at $35. FAZ currently at $42.75.:)
Just closed out EUR/USD at 1.2974 for a 38% gain. :)

Keep posting the info. I do trade them occassionally, but backed off last fall when a rally in the euro kicked my butt (I was heavily short).
We have a futures / currency subforum, so have at it. I'd love to see a futures trading discussion.

Yup, currency trading is fun but very risky. 100 to leverage.

Me too. I like the daily talk regarding actual currency pairs, not so much the currency ETF's. I have an account at FXCM, and anything I can learn here would be great.

Hey when/if you get some time, can you throw me a decent bloger link I can follow? Someone who likes to talk about bonds and someone who likes to talk about USD.
I'm thinking about shorting EUR/USD again, for a quick trade. When I say quick, I mean in and out within the next two hours.

Stop got hit at 1.3043 for a small loss. That trend line appears to be holding for now.
It's bed time and don't want to leave a trade on.
Once the market starts turning down, I see EUR/USD cliff diving. The time to really short it is coming.

Probably a good idea. Overnight futures positions can be quite dangerous as they usually shoot for stops in both directions.
Shorted EUR/USD again at 1.3053. Stop at 1.3075.

Damn, another losing trade. Good thing I had a stop in. When trading currencies, you really want to be there for every pip.
Shares that were used to short some Financials are being called in. This is causing some short covering. When it's over, the market will tank.
HOLDING FAZ.
If I was home, I would probably add more.
Shorted EUR/USD at 1.3521.
It had a big move today thanks to the Fed promising to buy $800B of toxic mortgages and $300B of long treasuries. Where is the money coming from? This might not even happen. They have been saying they were going to buy treasuries for how long now? And they have yet to buy any.
EUR/USD's rocket shot. Now pinned at the 50%. Should retrace some.

Still holding FAZ. Bought at $39.88 and $35.00.:(
Shorted EUR/USD at 1.3521.
Covered at 1.3443 for a 57% profit. My two earlier losses were very minor compared to this gain. Thank you Mr. Bernanke.:)
Long USD/JPY at 96.10.
Contemplating long EUR/USD.
Long USD/JPY at 96.10.
USD/JPY Target is 97, but I'm not too confident about this one. Might have to pull the plug quick and eat a small loss.

Long USD/JPY at 96.10.
Sold at 95.89 for a 22% loss. Ouch. Didn't want to give that much back.
Bought more FAZ at 26.71.
I couldn't possibly calculate the risk/reward ratio.

We're overbought. Risk is to the downside. Geithner's lastest plan is an act of treason. It's the theft of tax payer money. It does nothing for the economy. While some investors, hedge funds, or former Countrywide Execs might get rich from this plan, job losses will continue. The consumer is still deep in debt.
We need a tax revolt.
If FAZ gets back to 36-37, I'll break even.
EUR/USD is looking tempting for a short. Again, this will a very quick trade. This game has been profitable for me, unlike FAZ.

SPX gap fill at 826? Why not? Lets just get it over with today.

If you get a chance, take a look at the EUR/USD daily chart. I can't post the correct chart at the moment, but it looks like it's in the process of rolling over. I see a lot of potential on the down side. Obviously, no holding over night, but a lot of quick intra-day shorts. Perhaps I'll get lucky and catch a big cliff dive.

Interesting that you say that. I've got significant exposure to international markets so I've been watching the dollar carefully. Looks to me like the dollary has put in a low on the daily cycle. And I'm wondering if I should close my international positions. They've been doing so well since about March 9. But it seems like getting out of an EFT at the right time is much harder for me than getting in. :embarrest:

He's not making any sense. Saying there's a fundamental change in the market, but shorting the EUR/USD? If the bull market is back, the EUR/USD will continue to rise.
Did SPX just filled the gap at 826? That might have been the time to try a EUR/USD short at 1.36.
I'm not at home so I can't make any trades.
EUR/USD did a cliff dive 1.5 hours after I went to bed. I didn't have a short on as I don't like to leave trades on overnight. Now, I'm considering going long for a quick trade.

I read about stop-hunting in the overnight trades a couple weeks ago, reason I haven't been putting hard stops on my buys lately, since I don't day-trade.
Shorted USD/JPY at 99.60. 100 seems to be a big barrier.
