    Re: VIX ETF

    I know. I know.

We both had our timing right in NatGas, unfortunately the crooks reamed us in UNG. You had pristine timing in buying the VIX, but VXX proved wrong.

They got us. What can I...

Commodity ETF's are the latest fraud to hit main street. They got me in UNG.

    Re: Gold Strategies

I sold all my GDX for LT cap gains last week. I don't plan on dabbling in the gold market again until it goes below 1000, which it will once the deflation debate gathers hot air. One thing I found...

Sold out at the open today in GDX with a 70% gain at an average cost of $28; most of which qualifies for LT cap gains.

The bullish commodity story is front page news now. China imported record...

Yeah tough trade, especially with the crazy Forex leverage. What about playing with a long Yen trade on dollar pullbacks?

I wouldn't look for a serious shorting opportunity until central banks from around the world begin withdrawing liquidity and removing the backstops that brought confidence back in to market. Of...

    Re: etftalk's Account

I like gold too, but my orders to buy are staggered from 40-44. Just missed my highest buy order this past week. I remain IT and LT bullish on gold and especially like the recent shakeout.

    Re: Gold

GDXJ is a basket of juniors. I learned a good lesson with UNG as well. That fund wasn't designed for a contango environment.

I need a pair of lucky shoes like the ones PTJ wore.

    Re: Gold

GDXJ may not be a bad way to play gold for the final run up. Cramer gave it the kiss of approval around 27, so I'm sure most of those players are getting washed out.

    Re: The Dollar

One thing I don't like about UUP is the risk/reward. UUP could go up 7-10% if a short squeeze were to hit, and I figure that to be a max. That would also mean having to use leverage to make the...

    Re: Commodity ETF Tax Pitfalls

    Hey Alevie.

Basically if you buy an ETF that tracks a commodity: DBA, USO, UNG, GLD, SLV, etc., you'll pay a tax rate of around 35% if you sell within 12 months. 'LT cap gains' over a year and...
