Thoughts on the State of the Market (WE 02/14/2009)

"What’s Working Right Now
To the uninitiated, the State of the Market report is a free snapshot of what many of the strategies I’ve tested on this blog are saying about the stock market right now.
The report has called 6 out of 10 closing directions correctly in the last two weeks, with winning predictions 1.9x the average loser. (I multiply each day’s % return by the SOTM’s aggregate prediction to capture not just the direction of the prediction, but also the confidence).
For those keeping score at home, since the launch of the SOTM back in November of 2008, the report has called 64% of all days correctly with winners 1.0x losers. To put that in perspective, that isn’t as good as my proprietary strategies, but 64% is still pretty damn good."
